I know. I think the MS servers are going to melt. As for running in VMWare, I read that some people have got it to work and some have not. Take that with a grain of salt tho.

I was going to do the x64 version also, but the only chance I have of my Netgear SC101 working in Vista is to use the 32bit version and even then there are no guarantees. I hope I can get this downloaded tonight, I've been waiting months to play with Vista.

Hm isn't that just a NAS? If so, it'll work in 64bit version just fine.

It's not a NAS in the strictest definition of NAS. It needs special drivers on the PC to communicate with the device.

It's pretty easy to find, it's at the bottom of that page... you need to follow the steps on it to get a beta key -- the iso alone won't be useful.

The MS Download Manager thing sucks big time! My download keeps failing and it *asks* me if it should retry.... no option for auto-retry, so since last night I have only13% done.... when it downloads it goes at about 800 kbps, but fails every 50 megs or so.

I've got the x64 build working on the X2 system described in the system profile link in my sig. It's fairly smooth, but as has been stated many times, it is a beta. Some XP drivers will work, but some won't (Gretag Macbeth i1 Display2, which probably won't affect most of you ; ).

The Adobe Creative Suite 2 doesn't work entirely; Photoshop is ok (so far, I haven't thoroughly tested it), as is Illustrator (again, at least it loads), but InDesign and Bridge fail on startup unless run as administrator. I've been reporting these issues through the Microsoft Beta Client, as you should when you run into problems (download it from the Feedback page on your desktop).

By the way, I had no problems running either version of Vista in VMWare.

I want to try it but I'm sure I'll like it and then the release price will be $300+ and the version I want will probably be $600 or more. Best not to get hooked imo. :(

Well, my SC101 is unavailable to me in Vista. Netgear is so damned shortsighted, no 64 bit drivers, no Vista drivers, and no linux drivers. :|

Are you using the Vista 64 or x86? If it's x86, try the XP drivers. I've been able to use my Dell XP drivers on my laptop with Vista (the ones i needed to use at least).

Vista x86 and I did try the XP drivers. No go. The utility manager installed but it wouldn't install the drivers for the Zetera processor nor would the service run.
