There are like 2-3 folders I want backed up weekly - XP's backup utility would let me just select a couple of folders and schedule to copy them whenever I wanted..

What happened? Is there not a 'folder copy' thing for vista?

There are some other backup threads in this forum, I have posted details on how to use robocopy in vista to perform this on a regular basis. Feel free to search out those posts.

i don't know for sure but windows backup utility doesn't allow to image stand alone files and folders. I'd advice you to take a look at true image, it can do what you want and it works with windows vista.

true image isn't really for backing up a few folders (though its great for backing up whole partitions and unlike vista ultimates ghosting feature you can restore individual files).

true image can do the same thing, may be even better than vistas backup feature. The only advantage of vistas backup feature is that it's free.

Pirotech I think you misunderstood me, what I said was that tureimage lets you restore individual folders, while vista's does not (at least as far as I can tell). And I agree that true image is better then vista's imager in just about every category, just that for backing up individual files and folders neither is the best choice.
