Vista & Audigy 2

I finally got to playing around with Vista for the first time yesterday, and dang it, I cannot get drivers working for my Audigy 2 card. I'd assume the problem is because halfway through the installation, Vista throws up numerous errors that the files are not signed.

This is a Creative issue. One of the 64bit driver requirements is that they be signed drivers (you can disable this by hitting F8 on the boot menu and choosing the appropriate option).

Even doing that the sound card will not work. Who knows. But Vista does not even want to work with my nic anymore, so what am I going to do? Shelf it until they're a couple more releases down the road, maybe RC2.

cubby, everything you're looking for is up to the hardware vendor to supply, not Microsoft. Microsoft does not write drivers (except for some basic HID/system/VGA).

There will be no RC2.

Well, it doesn't matter who writes drivers, I know Microsoft doesn't write them all. But the point is still valid, I cannot use Vista until a later time. Maybe they won't have an RC2, but they just release a new build. Doesn't matter what it's called, it's still an improvement, and an improvement that might come bundled with better network drivers *provided by the manufacturer* as you'd wish me to spell out specifically.

The 57xx-series is RTM, so no, no more RCs 😉

At this point if drivers aren't included with the OS, they probably won't be on the RTM DVD.

Is your NIC using a Marvel chipset? If so, go find a decent Intel-based NIC.

It's a ULi chip, the board I've got is the 939Dual-VSTA. But honestly, right now I'm not going to give Vista another try for a while for other, more serious reasons, whether or not the sound & nic drivers improve. So I'll just leave my original issue alone.
