Never thought about that, but the thing that annoys the hell of me is that gap between the four built in icons (clock, volume, network and power) and any other icons down there. I filed at least two bugs on this (along with a lot of other people) and both were shot down as by design.

The worst part about it is that it isn't even consistent. If you unlock the taskbar and drag it up so that it you see the day and date in addition to the time, you will actually get a second gap between the clock and the other three icons, in addition to the gap between those three icons and any other icon. WTF?!

Darn you, stash! I had kind of noticed that gap but had managed to relegate it to the background so that it wouldn't bug me. Now that you've formalized it in my mind -- IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS! (And, yes, I was shouting.)

:disgust:

Oh well, I have to agree with you about UAC. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why some people are so troubled by it. It's just not that big a deal. And anyone who's installed software that starts sub-processes under Vista with UAC should have figured out that it's a good thing to have the OS tap you on the shoulder to ask your permission for additional processes to run. It at least gives a user who isn't totally oblivious a chance to realize it if something is not quite on the up-and-up. Surely the knowledgeable user who "never gets malware" should know enough about the installation processes he's running to know whether or not there are supposed to be multiple processes launched by them.

Don't know that I've had a chance to mention it before -- and I don't really particpate heavily here -- but I appreciate your contributions to this forum.
