does anyone knows if a clean install is done on the thinkpad , do the ibm utilities remain as the partition is hidden by default.
 
You factory recovery capability remains untouched. Not sure what you mean by "utilities" other than that.

Keep in mind the pre-load allows you to make a set of recovery media anyway.
