Just by pressing button on my case it would power up from "sleep" and directly into Windows.

Nowadays, it won't wake up my monitor.

I have to power-off the power supply then push power button on the case, it would go through the boot bios and then to the "resume" the last configuration of Windows.

What's going on here?

You're not the only one with power save issues in vista...

I don't know if there's an issue with vista, or the device drivers, but I have issues as well.

Device drivers, there are a lot of them that don't wake up correctly.

PhoenixOrion - What video card and driver versions are you running?

Same exact issue here, when it does finally reboot the programs and such are still running-IMO it has to be the videocard drivers. In my case I have an Nvidia-based card, 8800 GTS with the 100.65 WHQL drivers but the newer 101.41 and 100.95 exhibit the same behaviour.
I installed this MS Hotfix for sleep problems that will supposedly be part of SP1 but it hasn't helped here :(
KB928135

And this KB929734 but it didn't help either.
There are other Hotfixes dealing with Vista sleep probs as noted here Neosmart and a list of potential "fixes" including the two that I linked above.
G'luck, hope we find an answer soon :)

I have MSI 8800GTS 640MB.

Come to think of it now, I didn't have problems when I was initially running driver 100.65.

Then I tried the lastest Vista beta 101.XX (forgot the number). I had some minor image quality corruption in Oblivion so I uninstalled it.

Then I ran Driver Cleaner Pro.
Installed the official 100.65 drivers back again.

Then I had this sleep/power problems.

Thanks for the links. I'll read up on them.

Just saw this, never noticed it before.NV driver news

Down near the bottom under NVIDIA Vista Graphics Driver Issues, looks like it's a known issue.

Yeah, there have been a lot of nvidia driver issues. The latest ones are better than they used to be, but they've still got a way to go before it's par with XP.

The good news is that with Vista moving it out of the kernel when the video card crashes it doesn't bring your machine down (BSOD)
