Hi,

Running vista on Sony notebook (recent model, 1 gig ram ect) Upgraded from XP.

Runs fine when connected to AC, but crashes half way through boot when on battery.

Crashes if you turn power off after windows had booted.

Tried a re install of vista with no joy. All works fine under XP.

Any ideas anyone.

PS, everything else in vista is excellent < in my opinion....

soudns like an ACPI issue. is the laptop "Vista Capable?" Are there any BIOS updates on sony's website?

Its surposed to be vista ready. Most of the software is available for vista on the sony web site but no bios update yet. I also dont yet have the drivers/software to adjust screen brightness.

I have to boot back into XP and change it in their....

I have fixed the problem,

I installed the updated vista Sony DLL's package and Power management software.

If this doesnt fix it, its possibly related to NOT pressing Undock on the docking station before shuting down / removing from dock.

I did both at the same time so dont know which solution fixed the problem.
