Vista and Compaq Presario C552us

Hi, I have a Compaq laptop (Presario v2000) that has an M430 cpu, 2gb RAM, and is running XP Pro. I'm very happy with the performance, although it tends to crap out if I've got several memory hogs running (Photoshop, PowerPoint, etc.). Otherwise, I'm cool with it.

Now I'm assisting my sister, and I can pick up a similar laptop, a Compaq c552us, which has a M520 cpu, will have 1.5gb ram, but this one comes with Vista Home Basic pre-installed as opposed to XP. She only uses the basic stuff, though-- email, play and copy DVD's, browse the net.

My question is: will this suffice for her even with Vista? this laptop max's out at 2gb RAM, so I don't want to saddle her with a dog right out of the box. Since I haven't used Vista, I really can't tell what to expect.

Here's a link to the laptop: Compaq c552us

thanks,

brad

well i believe that Vista Home Basic doesnt have all the eye candy. its just the basic, stripped down version, so it should use less resources than say vista premium.
