Vista and ACPI multiprocessor ?

Here's the screenshot, we all know what it looks like in XP, it clearly sais ACPI MULTIPROCESSOR PC, but as you might notice on the screenshot, Vista does not. So is this normal ? Am I missing an update from windows * the updates only shows language packs that I can download, thats it *

Or can I install the dual core optimizer from AMD I installed on XP not long ago, and be done with it ? I've got not idea if that software is optimized for x64 or not, so I don't wanna install it just like that.

Device manager ? No, the link I provided is in 'apparaatbeheer', Dutch for device manager. It sais Op ACPI x64 gebaseerde processor, or in English, On ACPI x64 based processor.

It does show 2 cores being utilized in Task Manager though. I guess I'm gonna try that AMD dual core optimizer and find out if it will break stuff or not, the hard way 😛

Yea, I can tell Windows' Device Manager when I see it. But the link you provided also doesn't show the "Processors" leaf in the device tree expanded so how was anyone supposed to know if it showed both or not?

Hmz my bad, I'll go check right away.

Yeah under processor it does show amd X2 3800+ dualcore processor, twice. I guess that it's then 🙂

Must just be a translation issue. Maybe you could submit a bug report and suggest a better word to translate "multiprocessor" into?

I never checked when I had Vista installed here but maybe they just ditched the ACPI SMP HAL and only have one ACPI HAL that does both SMP and UP machines.

Good call. I guess an English Vista user would have to chime in on that one.

I got no clue what you're talking about, but I guess your right, and I just assume my dualcore is working fine in Vista 😛

On my dual core system, the equivalent phrase is "ACPI x64-based PC." I don't have any single core systems with which to compare, but I'll still assume that you're right about the unified SMP and UP HAL.
