Vista/Acer Quad System help

I have a new Acer Quad processor machine that has an ATI 1650 card in it attached to an Acer 22" LCD. The system runs great, except that occasionally I get this stange error message that says "Input Not Supported" and the whole system freezes up. I am never told what input was not accepted, no error reports are available, it just freezes. When I reboot, it is gone!

Also, in this box it seems there are 2 slots free. How do you tell a PCI slot from a PCI Express slot?
