Vista 64 x86 folder

I am going to upgrade from vista 32 to vista 64. On my friends computer he says there is an x86 folder on his C: drive that installs all 32 bit applications. I am wondering if I am able to move this folder? I like to have two partitions, one for applications and games and the other for OS. If I cant move this folder or make a different one in a different location then I will be stuck with one large partition. Please help. thanks.

You can't upgrade from 32bit Windows. You have to install a clean copy of Vista 64 and I doubt you can move that folder.

Every time you install an application (program, game, ...), when the form comes up that shows you the default path to the installation folder (C:\Program Files.........), just change the drive letter to the letter corresponding to the partition with your Program Files before clicking "OK". Then, the program will be installed on the other partition.

If you are not disciplined and prefer to change the default, there are registry setting that you need to change.

I should have been more clear. Im not upgrading im re-installing vista ultimate retail as 64 bit. I dont see how that is relevant however.

And yes I am persistant where are the reg edits for that?

I just change the path every time I install a new application.

It may be that you will have difficulty if you want to change the default drive (I have never done it and am sorry about my first post).
