Vista 64 wont load; stuck on load screen

Just built a new comp, AMD+2, 8 Gig Ram, Vista 64, MSI NX260GTX VC... I have Vista totally updated, but when I load video drivers, it will not restart, it gets stuck on the load screen. I can run the comp in standard windows VGA mode... but nothing higher.. Any suggestions? All of my equipment is brand spankin new...
