So what should I use or what do you all like as far as security applications when using Vista 64?

Seems like I find good programs but they aren't all compatible with 64 bit OS.

Right now all I run is AVG free addition and the onboard Windows security applications. I prefer free apps but if I need to pay that would be fine too.

1) What Anti-Virus app?

2) What Firewall?

3) What Anti-Malware?

4) What Spyware Removal?

5) Anything else?

What do we all like. Ok, I'll bite on that

1) AntiVir or Kaspersky would be my preferences. One has pretty good heuristics, the other has aggresive signature-based detection with hourly updates.

2) Windows Firewall, public mode ("trust no one" mode)

3) non-Admin user account plus enough Common Sense to not download and run Trojans myself, backed by a disallowed-by-default Software Restriction Policy since Vista Ultimate and Vista Business offer that additional option. And UAC , IE7 Protected Mode and fully-enabled Data Execution Prevention.

4) If I ever got spyware despite steps 1 through 3, I would remove it with DBAN.

5) Don't let anyone else onto your system's Admin accounts, and patch your software (check with the Secunia Personal Software Inspector, which is reportedly now Vista-compatible with minor glitches). Remove as much unnecessary software as practical (Java, QuickTime, whatever you don't actually use). Back up your data routinely. Use a router between the computer and the modem to keep the IntarWeb at arm's reach. Wrap the computer in tinfoil? :D
