Vista 64 vs XP 64 on drivers

Which is the better OS to go with? Vista 64 or XP 64 when it comes to driver support? My common sense tells me Vista 64 since it is where everything is headed and seems like companies will have Vista 64 as a priority on developing drivers? Or am I missing something?

hey,
vista 64 for sure, its been discussed about 1 million times 🙂 xp 64 only has "must have" driver support.

Most people here would say Vista x64 would have better support, and for new stuff thats true.

However, it depends on your hardware tbh. Older stuff might not get any Vista support, so check your vendors website.

I personally have hardware in my rig that is supported under XP x64, but doesn't have any Vista drivers whatsoever, and probably never will.

I'm not particularly fond of Vista anyway, but unfortunately 'its the future'.

I have all drivers for my hardware with Vista x64 ,however I can't get some for XP x64 version.

Personally I go for Vista x64,way superior to XPx 64 .

So........ 😕

I thought it was quite clear.

Side Note: Vista x64 has longer future support then XP x64 too,no real reason to go with XP x64 I can see.

As always check what drivers are available for your hardware.

Clear, but totally irrelevant to the OP's question.

I think I already covered that. 😉

Checking drivers is obvious really 😉,you did say
I personally have hardware in my rig that is supported under XP x64, but doesn't have any Vista drivers whatsoever, and probably never will.

So I pointed out my experience was the opposite,ie could get Vista drivers but not XP x64 drivers for my hardware,so is revelevant as much as your statement if not more(ie Vista x64 user giving his real life driver experience,I also have a XP x64 CD too) ,why do some people make a mountain out of a mole hill.

It was completely relevant, you seemed to have responded rudely only because Mem disagreed with you.

Been using Vista 64 for almost 6 months now. All my hardware is supported except for my Line 6 GuitarPort which doesn't have 64-bit drivers (which means no XP 64 drivers either).
