Vista 64 Sound Properties

I'm using Vista Business 64 bit and went into my Sound Properties menu and saw that I can set my Sample Rate and bit depth to much higher levels then when I was using XP with my old X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card

is it OK to just select the highest sample rate-- 24 bit, 192000 Hz (Studio Quality) and be done with it?...or could setting it too high have some kind of negative effect?...I used the 'Test' feature after applying and it seems to sound fine but I just wanted to double check

I have attached a screen shot to show exactly what I am referring to

**it defaults to 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)...I am using the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1 sound card

Setting it higher is fine, and in fact you should do so since your card supports higher quality sampling rates.

Thanks!...I'll keep it at 24 bit, 192000 Hz then with no worries
