Vista 64 and Raptor drives

When I first installed Vista 64 on my new system, it was flawless. After the update this last week though the raptor drive, my OS install drive, started to make a lot of noise. What I believe its doing without knowing terms is that the head keeps flying back to the beginning of the platter and back to the center every second on the second. I even timed it along side my stopwatch and it clicks back every second.

After the update, it just did it all the time, after I went to a restore point it does it once in a while, probably 70 percent of the time though.

Is anyone else having this trouble? or knows what its doing.

I understand that there are system processes that could cause this, but this is a bit much.

It also could show first signs of death. I'd see its SMART report. Maybe it is just hardware related.
