Vista 3GB Ram issue

Is there a work around for this or does my P35 MB not allow me to use 4GB?

Yes im sure im 64, the rams in the slots...

Any ideas?

Does the BIOS see all 4GB? The P35 supports up to 8GB. So maybe either some of the RAM is bad, you're not actually using 64bit Vista, or you need a BIOS update first.

Flash your BIOS to the most recent version. Your mother board is using an older chipset and likely needs to have the BIOS updated.

If you are running the latest BIOS for your motherboard make sure it has PAE (Physical Address Extentions) enabled.

Either way, it's a BIOS issue.

PAE really only has to do with 32 bit operating systems. 64bit OSs should see 4GB without the PAE switch.

But, I did find this gem from someone else with a similar problem:

"The BIOS must support the memory remapping feature."

So.. upgrade to the latest BIOS if you haven't, and enable the memory remapping feature.

This is a well-known issue. Enable "memory remapping" in the BIOS if it's available. Otherwise, nothing you can do about it other than add more memory.

Ah right, sorry, I was thinking memory remapping, but for some reason came out with PAE. Thanks for the clarification.

clarkey01 - if you are on a 64-bit OS, change your sig.

It still states Vista HP 32-bit.

Ha I will go into my bios first and try and get that extra gig showing first before I change " da sig"
