Vista 32 -> Win 7 64

How can I upgrade from Vista 32 to Win 7 64?

Install over it or install on another drive/partition.

You cannot for two reasons:

1.) Windows 7 is not out yet.

2.) You cannot Upgrade a 32 bit system to a 64 bit system without wiping the drive first. Clean installation only.

The Win 7 beta 64 bit runs fine and has been 100% stable, at least for me. We have it on several computers both 32 & 64 bit.
People say "Don't run a beta on you primary computer"

Well in my experience they are ALL betas. Ever had one that did not have problems to be fixed. Win XP and VISTA still have lots of bugs. Windows 7 Beta has been much more stable than Vista ever was for me. YMMV naturally.

From what I've read, no matter what, Win7 requires a clean install - even the upgrade version will wipe your drive first (I'm assuming it will ask you to insert your old CD/DVD kind of like how win98 used to ask for the first disk from w95 to validate you as an upgrade user)

I thought Vista users of the same bit level were allowed upgrades.

Vista users can upgrade to 7/7Beta - 32/64 bit restrictions applying, of course.

yeah you can... i did it and it took forever but it worked... but went back to vista to many issues for me.

I went from Home premium 32bit to beta 32 bit. Network card has to be reset after every reboot, to big of an issue for me right now. So I can wait
