Mods: If this thread is locked please give a reason why. I havent seen anything outlawing discussion of the Visor Edge deal from www.pdaoffer.com. I understand this site is probably a scam, but some people did send in their money and i figure anand forums is a good place to keep track of news on this topic.

I just got this email from pdaoffer.com:

Thank you for placing an order for a Free Visor Edge PDA.
Unfortunately, your order was not properly processed by our credit card
processor and you will need to place your order again from our website.
Your first order has been void and your charge card has been or will shortly be
credited for the full amount .
Once you verify that it has been credited, please return to
http://www.pdaoffer.com/ to place the order again.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
The management,
PDA Offer Inc.

You can discuss it in the Brag & Moan thread, but plesae do not start a new thread about it.

I got the same email and I am wondernig about this. If it's a scam why email that?? It's not to get you to pay twice because they say to first verify that they refunded you the money. I wonder what its all about.

i got the same message too, but when i returned to the site to check it out, it says that due to high trafic the site is down, and it's been down for about a day now, scam? most likely...

Most people won't check their credit card, and instead just pay the extra.

Pretty creative on their part, I'd say -- milking it for double. Unfortunately, CCNow will only pay them $1000 and hold the rest for 2 months.

Maybe they're trying to weed out the people who ordered with single-use numbers like ones from Amex Blue. Anyone whose second number matches the one used on the first order is known to have a reusable card. Just a wild guess.

When you try to go to http://www.pdaoffer.com/, thsi is what you will get:

<< Our server is temporarily
unavailable (too much traffic)
Please check back with us in a few hours. >>

Now here is the kicker, going to http://www.pdaoffer.com/catch.htm, there is no problem getting in...what server problem?????

Now, go to they checkout page http://www.pdaoffer.com/orderform.htm and notice that the orders are no longer through ccnow.com but rather SkipjackMerchant Serices: Virtual Point of Sale - VPOS and here is their LINK

Conclusion: Ccnow decided to get out of this while they could since they smell something fishy too. And NOW, this guy is trying to get you to order again through his NEW merchant account. :disgust:

i also got the email.

ealier today on my online banking statement there was a pending $19.97 that normarlly goes through the day after. Its gone now. no charge. what im worried about is that they now have all over creditcard numbers and might use them later.

Remember if you cancel your credit cards that you could get charged a late fee for any missed payments that are linked to that credit card.

good work peone for checking that out!

now its time to warn the second CC company. who wants to do it?

better yet...get the FEDS in on this while "abe" is still answering that phone. they can trace it to his house and nab him in his jammies. who's got a relative/friend in the FBI/police? teh last time i called in a fraud using their internet crime service they emailed back several months later...when i forgot about the whole business. i suggest we try and nab this guy....make some phone calls guys!

Interestingly, if you 'accidentally' put in invalid info on the new order form, you get an error page that has this text:

If continue to have problems or if you have questions please contact: Pda Offer
Customer Support at: 7739082306 or E-mail us at: abe@pdaoffer.com or Fax us at: 5093515681

Hmm, a phone number is Chicago, but a fax number in WA state. Must be a big company 🙂

If you checked to make sure that it was actually ccnow that your transaction went through, you probably don't have to worry about pdaoffer having your numbers, but just in case I would definitely recommend using a one use number offered by AmEx Blue or DiscoverCard Desktop.

I still say this is a scam. I wrote the new transaction company (SkipjackMerchant Serices)warning them about this account. . .we'll see.

Update: Sendero - I got that same info. . .do notice that there is no little padlock in IE. . .not a secure (SSL) site. Don't order.

Or maybe a two person scam operation..LOL 😛

Well, at least we know that he probably didn't get any of the $$$ sent to him. The site may still be up, but I chalk it up as a victory against the guy. Maybe this merchant company will cancel him too.
