Visiting My Father For 6 Weeks

Hi --

My father, who is 90, has asked me to come and see him for a while.

I live in Washington state, near Tacoma. He lives near Oak Ridge, Tennessee. My sister and her family live 2 doors down from him. I'll get to eat Thanksgiving dinner with the whole gang.

I have decided not to run my computers while I am gone. I realize that in the vast scheme of things, this is of no great consequence. Nonetheless, I will regret not making a contribution for a little while.

I have already asked for "no new tasks" on the projects that I am currently working on: Quake-Catcher Network, QMC, and Rosetta.

I'll be traveling on Tuesday, 10/13.

I will be checking this page from time to time to keep up with what's going on. I look forward to returning home and bringing my crunchers back on line ~12/1.

C ya!!

Your crunchers may be down, but you will still be contributing to the betterment of the human condition.

Enjoy the time with your dad; this is a great opportunity that many people never get.

On a side note, if you need a diversion for a few hours and are interested, you'll be near the site of that huge coal-ash spill of last year.

6 weeks with family--that would be nice. The best holidays are always those spent with family. I don't remember what I got for Christmas that year, but I sure remember everyone visiting and all. 🙂

Have a safe trip. It is great that you can & will go. For most of us the opportunity to see family should not be missed. The projects will still be here when you get back.

Thanks everybody for your thoughts. I'm almost ready - just have to do some final packing.

I'll have a nice trip!

See you next fall!!
