I just graduated from the undergrad program there, so hopefully I can give you decent advice. Go have a look at the standard spots (kresge auditorium, killian court , stata center), but focus on talking to people at MIT. Attend a couple of classes. visit dorms on both East and west campus - they have different vibes - you might like one vs the other. MIT is defined by the people who go there, and the professors, not necessarily by it's facilities. Therefore, spend most of your time hanging out with people from different parts of the campus to see if you would be comfortable there. Don't be surprised to see frazzled people occasionally- MIT can push people very hard sometimes. But we have fun also (atleast in East Campus

I found MIT to be an incredible experience, and I'm very sad to be leaving it for good. In terms of an educational experience, it's whatever you make of it - MIT gives you incredible freedom in choosing classes, and many of the professors are amazing. But you have to put the effort in, and take advantage of the variety of excellent classes offered.There will definitely be times when you hate it - multiple tests a week sometimes, late night projects/labs/homework, but the community is incredibly supportive, and soon you'll find that you wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. It's a place students love to hate, as is epitomized by it's unofficial slogan (IHTFP).
