well there are nice places all over the state, what do you want to do? how far do you want to travel? Mains is pretty damn big

but im guessing that any place along teh coast will be best, Id start with Portland, its a great city and the Old Port is awsome, it will be a little cold unless you go in the summer, if you want to shop i suggest going to Freeport, home of LL Beans, Boothbay Harbor is nice also but its more of a summer place, if you like to camp i suggest either Acadia national park or Baxter St Park, both are very nice

I'd like to go somewhere on the coast near water. Distance doesnt matter.

I live in Maine! 😀

North Yarmouth to be exact. But don't go there, it's small, like 50 people. There is one traffic light in all of North Yarmouth!

I'd suggest Freeport or Portland. And if you want some nice lobster, go to the Haraseeket Inn (In Freeport)!

Places to go:
Freeport (shopping)
Baxter State Park
Light Houses (seem to be a big tourist attraction in Maine)
Acadia National Park
My house! (I'm one cool dude 😉)
Oh, and Cadillac Mtn. is cool too! My friend and I biked down it once. It was great fun (besides the fact we had to get new brakes after it 😀)

If you'd like some good restaraunts or any other info feel free to PM me 🙂

Portland head light is nice. Lovely park there, with a lighthouse. Great place for a picnic.

Portlands old port is ok, if you like "cutesy" shops and bars.

Boothbay harbor is lovely, and a great place to take a boat ride. Its a very scenic part of the coast when viewed from the water. It's a good tour boat spot because much of the trips are sheltered from open water. (no seasickness)

Thomaston, visit the prison shop. See what guys with lots of free time can build out of wood. (some of it's pretty good)

Rockland... not a heck of a lot there, but the lobster fest thing is nice. If you plan your trip that weekend its worth checking out.

Camden, where the moutains meet the sea. Real nice place to wander around. One the far side of town is the state park. Drive your car up mt battie, for a great view of the harbor. The hiking there is great too.

Searsport, Perrys nut house. A must see for all tourists.

Bar Harbor/ Acadia. The town is nice, lots of shops, resturants, etc. Acadia is a national park, and as stated, caddilac mt is nice. Lots to see and do there and the hiking is excellent too.

anyone know of any good hotels or anything to stay at in this area?

It depends on what you want to spend of course. The best way is at inns. The Newcastle Inn (in Newcastle of course is a very nice place and we try to spend a weekend there every year, usually late winter.

If you want to camp, there are places I know too, that I would share in PM, because I don't want the word to get out 😛

What we advise (to be helpful) is when, what you like to do, and how much you are willing to spend.
