Visiting California and driving a friends car

ndee

Lifer
Hey there,
I'm from Switzerland and planning on visiting my friend in California some time during September. Since he has two cars, he offered me to drive one of his cars during this time. I should only check if I got an insurance. Now, I called my insurance today and they say the won't insure me for that time, because of the multi-million lawsuits that happend, etc. Now, is it somehow possible that my friend gets an insurance for that time for a 3rd party driver?

Thanks in advance for any info.

If you have not done this before, I'd skip driving in California. 😉

done it before a couple times, it's ALOT more relaxed than in Switzerland/Europe 🙂

Insurance follows the vehicle, not the driver, so unless that person specifically excluded you in the policy, there will be coverage.
