VISIONTEK XTASY 9800 PRO 256MB AGP $299 at CDW

Wow...that is a smoking deal on that card, unless it's a price mistake. Cheapest I found it elsewhere online was at computerhq.com and it's listed at $456.00
there...

EDIT

Only $11.99 shipping for TWO units for next day delivery in Texas...WOW!

Yes they actually do make a 256MB 9800 Pro and they also are making a 9800XT. I read a review in a magazine for the 9800 Pro 256MB and it was givin a Kicka$$ award. They also have lifetime warranties on their videocards and use the ATI reference design.

As stated above they are usually around $450 and I almost bought a refurb. for $368 a couple weeks ago, it was a BBA but had poor reviews on overclocking due to the DDRII that are on these boards that run hot.

Just an FYI.

HEHE! recheck his wording. He said "Visiontek doesn't make a BB" so I assumed he meant a Built BY ATI "BBA".

Wacko 🙂

Ouch, read the reviews. Looks like they're masters of the bait and switch. Looks likel I'll be going with the 9800 Pro from BB instead.

IN CONTEXT. Pinchy was replying to flxnimprtmscl. wacko

I used to work for CDW... called up one of my buddies there to get the scoop:

This "hot deal" is DOA. It shows up as a discontinued item in the system. Probably was an inventory error.

Sorry, but it's a no-go.

Ooof...

Looks like CDW has gone to the dogs. They used to have a stellar rep. Never bought much from them tho due to everything being overpriced. I considered them an upidy store for big corps. and the rich and famous. Oh, well, as George Harrison said "All Things Must Pass". I'm sure the mighty Newegg will one day follow the same path. 🙁

End-users and penny-pinchers looking for the best deal and are not the customers CDW wants. They make no secret of it... right on their website:

"CDW's business model focuses on small- and medium-sized businesses with 97 percent of sales derived from commercial accounts."

That is true. We buy from CDW all the time, and our account manager is the best.
