VISIONTEK XTASY 9200 SE

Bugg27

Junior Member
I just installed the VISIONTEK XTASY 9200 SE video card powered by Ati and has been experiencing computer lock ups where the screen goes blank, which then requires a restart. I have the GA-7VAXP
board from Gigabyte. Sometimes before it crashes I get a VPN recovery message. Does anyone have any suggestions or should I just remove the card and go back to my old video card. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been having the same issue whenever flying MSFT's FS9. Screen goes blank, and just sits there, doesnt restart on its own. So it needs a little push from me. Never fails, just depends on what it will happen.

I installed a 9200SE for my brother-in-law and ran into similar issues. The 9200SE is billed as an 8X AGP part, but the memory used on the card is nowhere near fast enough for 8X AGP performance.

I went into the driver settings and hard set the SMARTGART AGP setting for 4X, the video card never gave me any more trouble.

Hope this helps.

I have an ATI Radeon 9200 SE (I assume it's the same as the ones everyone here is talking about). it's happened twice now, while I was playing WC3:TFT. the computer makes one beep (the kind you hear on post), screen goes black, then windows defaults to lowest res and says it's recovered from a device error and i need to reboot.

helpful advice, i'll try it, thanks, eddie
