VisionTek Xtasy 6564 (Geforce3 TI200)

Don't know if you would call it a hot deal or not, but this is on sale at Best Buy for $169.99 before a $30 MIR. Blue price match it to micropro.com at $140.

Brings it to $110.00 after pricematch and MIR.

Not bad for a GeForce 3 TI 200 card with 64mb DDR ram.

Just thought i would throw out what i found to be a good deal, first time to put one up here.

Guys, this is a GREAT card. I got it for $100 on the Black Friday BB deal. $140 is a hot deal on this card.

I went to CUSA and got the replacement plan on it. I just traded it in for a Radeon 8500. I wish I had kept the GF3!!!

This card is SO overclockable it's ridiculous. I always kept mine on 220/500, without any extra fans or anything. I've pushed it to 240/540 before. This thing is GREAT. It has outperformed my Radeon 8500 in every game so far.

The only reason you may want to not get this card is because the GF4 TI 4200 will be coming out in April, probably for only $199.

Of course, you can get GF3, go to CUSA for a replacement plan and just pay the difference for the GF4 later.

STOP READING THIS. GO BUY THE CARD.

110 for this card after rebates is a pretty decent deal.

FSUpaintball, how much is the Replacement plan? and what exactly do you have to do when you buy the GF4 later?

I work at CUSA so it was a bit cheaper for me, but not a bad idea for anyone.

The 2-year plan is $20. Since it's in the $100-200 price bracket, the 1-year would be $20, so you might as well get the 2-year TAP warranty for the same price.

This is how it works: the warranties are "Replacement Plans." They're meant to be no questions asked policies. If you bring in a "broken" card, we have to give you one at least as good as the original.

Now, the GF3 TI200s aren't gonna be around for too much longer. The TI500s are already discontinued and out of stock in most stores. If you bring in a card that's broken, and we don't have that same card in stock, we have to give you a better one. Which probably means a GeForce 4 TI4200 - for free!

If we DO still have the TI200 when you bring it back in, you will have to pay the difference to get the better card. I'm guessing the GF4 TI4200 will come out at $199 (at least that's what everyone's expecting). CUSA's price on the GF3 TI200 is $150 right now. If that stays for a few more weeks, you'll have to pay $50 for the new GeForce 4 in a worst-case scenario. Personally, I'd just hang on to the GF3 until it's discontinued, then bring it in.

I hope that wasn't too confusing. Here's a summation:

Buy the GeForce 3 TI200 at Best Buy.
Bring your receipt and the card into CompUSA, and get their 2 year $19.99 replacement plan
Wait until your card is discontinued, and the GeForce 4 TI4200 comes out (April I think)
Bring your GF3 and your receipt into CUSA, let them know it's broken, and get your new card.

The only thing I can think of that could go wrong with this is someone could give you a different card instead of the GF4 TI4200. The only card on the market I can think of is the Radeon 8500. And if you ask me, that's not a step up. I've owned both. If worst comes to worst, you can offer to pay the difference between the Radeon and the GF4. You still get off with a card for $50 or less when you trade in.

Anyone got any questions, or problems with this you can think of?

what if they try and stick you with a geforce4 mx series video card? i can see that happening.. arguing that since it's a geforce4 mx that it's superior to the geforce3 ti200.. 😛 just a thought.

If they do, then they're stupid. The GeForce 4 MX series is completely inferior to every single GeForce 3 in almost every single way. The GF4 MX series is really just a bunch of GeForce 2s. Tell them that the GeForce 4 MXs are inferior to your card, and it shouldn't be a problem.

But don't bring it up unless they try to give it to you.

Wouldn't it seem kinda suspicious that a bunch of people start trading in their Ti200's at CU because they're all 'broken?' Would CU bother testing them to see if they work? Or is it really a no questions asked policy.

yeah, i kinda find that hard to believe. compusa is a big company, if they did that, everyone would be getting the replacement plans, buy a pc, and a year later upgrade to something faster, and then they would be out of business..

if you really wanted to break it you could microwave it for 3 or 4 seconds. that will kill every IC on the board. returning it then would be illegal, of course.

wow, okay thanks FSUpaintball, i knew when you initially posted that there was a good deal in there somewhere. Now this sounds very pleasing as you can work with this now.

Buy a GeForce 3 ti200 at Best Buy $170 - $30PM -$30MIR = 110

Now bring it in to CompUSA and Dish out 20 bucks for the 2-year TAP warranty = 130

Use card till it becomes "obsolete" (relative to ti4200) make sure GF3ti200 is out of stock and return the now "broken" card for a GF4ti4200 and pay the difference 199(approx retail price of GF4ti4200) - 170(Price of GF3ti200) = $29 + 130 = $159 for a GF4ti4200 when it comes out! Plus you get to use a near top of the line card till it comes out!

sounds like a hot deal to me.... if i missed something please inform me. If there are other stores with a higher price and a $30 rebate this would be an even hotter deal! If anyone knows a store which sells Visiontek GF3ti200 for more than 180 and includes a rebate of $30 or more please PM me!

Umm, isn't that fraud? 😱

Will that work for any PCB based item? What about the sparking from metal? Maybe you could wrap such items in a towel?

Ubid is currently selling 1000's of Xstasy and MSI Geforce cards. There are over 100 in each lot so you just have to pay the reserve price. A Geforce 3 Ti200 with TV-out is currently going for about $120. The Ti500's are about $200. The GeForce2 GTS-V 32MB are about $40.

maybe i'm an idiot, but i don't see CompUSA selling you a $20 replacement plan for a $100+ card you didn't even bother to buy from them??? i don't know their policies, this just seems odd.

Committing fraud is NOT a hot deal - unless you think getting 3 hots and a cot on taxpayer money is a hot deal...

VisionTek products come with a lifetime warranty. Why the hell would I want to buy a warranty.

You gomer's that microwave your sh!t are the reason I have a job. Insurance fraud. Heh heh. I LUV people like you. Low life scum who deep within feel the need to reside in a block building cuddled up to Bubba. That IS a hot deal.

just in case you guys noticed, i never said you are suppose to actually fry your card in any way (that was mentioned by a separate person before me). I was thinking along the lines of FSUpaintball and just return your card to compusa saying one day it wouldnt boot up or something, you could even hint to the guy you're returning it to and say it may be another component in my computer, but just in case you'd like a new card to make sure. Although you're still being a little dishonest, you're not breaking a good piece of equipment for no reason.

Although this has the possiblity of being taken advantage of, that is merely up to the individual. Dont be so quick to judge and label people. Perhaps the card actually does fail on its own one day, wouldn't you want the ability to trade it in for a newer/better graphics card for 30 bucks?

Fraud is fraud - rationalize all you want.

If you really want the Ti4200, then just wait for the price to drop to a price u're willing to pay.

guaranteed to work. no microwave necessary

I would never fry a video card in order to force a company to give me a better one, but I am on the verge of frying my CenDyne Aopen drive as a means of forcing an RMA because I feel that they should have never marketed a defective product and I am very upset with them for doing so.

That was the nature of my inquiry as to whether or not this would work with "any PCB".
