i am trying to decide if i should upgrade or not?

I can get this card for really cheap. And its very tempting.

I have a V5 5500 running on a a7a266, 1ghz t-bird. 512mb ddr.

I am also running XP and W2k dual boot.

The problem is that XP don't reconize all the features of the V5.

Here is more info on the GTS-v.

Quick response will be appreciated, since i need to buy one before they run out!

Thanks.

Personally I wouldnt bother - sell the voodoo and use the cash you had to get a geforce 3 ti200 instead.

Yep I agree, wait until the GF4 arrives in full force and then spring for a GF3 Ti200 which should drop a good deal in price...maybe ~$100. The GF2 is faster but still may leave something to be desired with newer 3D games. GF3 crunches through anything with headroom to spare.

I wouldnt dream of doing it. They'll perform nearly identically, with the V5 having better 2D, and better FSAA. The GF2 will have better support due to the fact that 3dfx is now dead... but I certainly wouldnt change cards unless your having severe compatibility issues with the V5 as it's hardly an "upgrade" at all.

If you really want to upgrade grab a Radeon 7500, or GF2 Ti if your on a budget.
Or a Radeon 8500, or a GF3 Ti200 if you've got a little more money.

Why not! If your having trouble with the voodoo5 then by all means get the gts-v... newegg.com is selling them for $49 . (175 mhz/32 meg ddr/gts) .. You can sell the voodoo and get your money back. Then set back and wait for the "next gen. super wing ding waiste you money video craze" to die down. Good Luck
