Visiontek Overheating

Just installed Visiontek's x850xtpe in my new Dell Dim 9100. Started playing Doom 3 at high quality and after a short time got the card overheating alarm from Catalyst and the message that it's lowering the clock speed. This was unexpected. Any suggestions, do I need to lower my game settings?
Any help is appreciated..Thanks
