Visiontek GeForce4 Ti 4400 & ASUS P4B266 ......

Just bought the Visiontek GeForce4 Ti 4400 vid card tonight. After installing it in my P4B266 board I was able to boot and install the drivers. But after rebooting, as soon as the Windows XP Pro startup logo finished loading, my system would just hang at a black screen. It would let me to the desktop only under vga compadible mode. Tried several diffrent Det drivers including those on the CD. Same thing. I'm thinking the card is bad at this point. I put back in my Visiontek GeForce3 Ti 200 and everything installed nomally. Did some searching here and over at asusboards.com but didn't read anybody having this type of problem. Going to return this card and try another one tommoro. But before I do I though I'd post and see if anyone has seen this type of problem before and were able to fix it somehow.

I just bought the same card, however I am running an EPOX boad. I <<<KNOCKING ON WOOD>>> have not had any problems with my card. I am also running Win XP Pro and I used the latest detonators from NVIDIA's site.

Sounds like the card is functioning properly because you were able to boot to the OS and install the drivers. Can you try the card on another PC?

Yea, I can. I've got a P3 machine here with a Asus CUSL mobo. This is what I'll do... I'm going to return the card and pick up a new one. If the same thing happends I'll put it in the other machine and see what it'll do. Thanks for the replys 😎

Took back the Visiontek to the shop where I bought it and they tested it on a Abit TH7 board with Win98SE running. The card loaded just fine there. I returned the card anyway and picked up the PNY GeForce4 Ti 4400. Just installed it ( with no problems ) and it runs just fine. Don't know what to make with that but I'll take the new card and go with it.

Thanks for the input.
