visiontek cards and aftermarket cooler

I have a Visiontek 4870 and don't want to deal with the fan mod to increase cooling/noise.
I purchased an aftermarket cooler GFX chilla from NCIX.

My question is how would they know I used an aftermarket cooler if I had to send it in for warranty repairs? I plan to run it with the stock cooler first to make sure it works.

Thanks

They wouldn't :) I had a visiontek card a while back can't remember which one, but I put an aftermarket cooler on it, ran it stock and it ran great for about 6 months then it just died. I put the stock cooler back on and sent it off as an RMA to them and then they replaced it with a new one no questions asked...

It's the same thing with overclocking... most warranties shun upon it but there is no way they'll ever find out since it's usually done on a driver level.

...as long as you don't cut up the existing heatsinks (4850 model, not sure if the same applies to 4870) during install of new cooler or do BIOS level flashing (that you cannot then revert if the card dies) they won't know.

Totally worth waiting for if you don't want to mess with hacks and profiles. The 4870 has a good stock cooler. Once fan control becomes as easy as adjusting IQ settings, all the better. And it's not that noisy, 60% fan speed takes temps way down and is still fairly quiet.
