Visiontek and DirectX9

Has anyone with a Visiontek Geforce2 32Mb card been able to use directx9. I am using Windows 98SE and the system freezes after I switch to directx9.

I know the card can't use the features but I thought Directx9 was suppose to be backwards compatabile.

There are some games I wanted to try that won't let me do an install because I do not have directx9 on my system.

Appreciate your help.

How's about an upgrade of your operating system, which will most likely require a computer upgrade. You're due for one.

yeah it's that time unfortunately...ahh sigh I remember the 98 days with a 6x86 with 16mb ram and 1mb vid card...life is good these days 🙂

So you updated to DX9, but have you tried using newer video card drivers? What drivers are you using now? And in what way is your system freezing?

I am using the " 44.03" version of the nvidia drivers.

I removed directx9 and reinstalled directx8 because the system would crash when I tried to play UT.

I was hoping someone who owned a Visiontek Geforce 2 might have found a way around the
problem I am experiencing.

It appears that these problems may be unique to Visiontek Geforce 2 cards.

I may upgrade my drivers, but until I get another job, I will have to postpone the OS upgrade.

Thanks for your ideas.
