Virutal LAN over net gaming...?

My friends and I use battlelan and lancraft for Warcraft 3 playing over the internet (seeing the game in the LAN section). But now we all have Generals and we would like to be able to use a similar program to play this game in the same way, lancraft and battlelan don't seem to work correctly. It allows us to see the game but always times out when we try to connect to the server...any ideas?

Hey bud, I know what you mean.

I have had the same problems. However, Battle.lan worked out for me, even with C&C generals. Make sure you have everyone's IP address in the program, and that everyone is using battle lan.

Routers usually screw things up. Im not sure how to get around that.
Good luck, try it again, let me know what happens.

My friend is hte one who hosts and he has a router but everything works well in WC3 and everything. Even when I can get into a WC3 game and then he starts up Generals and I try to get in the with the same settings that worked in WC3 the connection always times out. It sucks, but it may be cause by my slow 56k...?

The netcode in Generals is only so-so. I wouldnt be suprised if the timeouts were a result of the game code and not your networks.

Being able to connect perfectly with WCIII only strengthens my suspicions.

Ive had some weird problems with C&C,but i have gotten it to work properly with Battle.lan. This was without a router. Perhaps if you tried to host the game, even though u are on a slow connection, he might be able to connect to you. See if that works, then it will determine if the router is the problem.

Make sure you both try running battle.lan at the same time, with everyone's ip setup correctly.
