Mc Afee detected a trojan on a friends computer.......JS/ No Close.........which he put into quarantined files. File name it affected is spwn(1).html .............Mc Afee says the file cannot be cleaned. Questions: Is there another way to clean this file or if not, can or should the file be deleted. I have Notons on my computer but for some reason they don`t even scan for this type of trojan or consider it a problem. Thanks !

Yeah, set VirusScan for a full scan with no excluded areas and have it delete infected files on sight.

If it cannot be cleaned.... Delete the file. If in the future you want the best trojan detector, look no further than TDS-3

Thanks Technonut ! Guess my main question was if the file could safely be deleted without causing any problems. I appreciate the response.

#1: Yes, the file should be deleted!

#2: Why do you think you are not scanning for this threat? What version of Viruscan do you have? What is the version number of your DAT file (should be about 4243)?

SwampsterFL..............Full system scan was done after infected file was put into Mc Afee`s Quarantined Files, naturally to eliminate the possibility of another file being infected. The only info. I have is that the file name is spwn(1).html and it`s original location was C:\Documents and Settings. The Mc Afee scan being used is a new version and is always updated when advised and the operating system is Windows XP home version. Deleting the file is no problem however I was concerned it may cause problems in the future by doing so. If you need a version number of the DAT. file, please advise where and how I would get this info. Unfortunately my knowledge of computers is limited. Thanks very much for the help.....................................

OK, the file is deleted from the other system. This is good.

I still don't understand why you think you are not scanning for this virus on your system.

If you click on the VirusScan icon on the desktop, the main window should show you the DAT file version ,
