Virus? "vriuonj" keeps inserting itself in registry

I have a friend's computer that has a few trojan horses and viruses on it. I have removed them all according to Norton, Adaware and Spybot. However, everytime the computer restarts a command line in startup appears. Ir reads ...

rundll32 C:\Windows\System32:vriuonj.dll, Init 1

If I uncheck it in msconfig, it appears a second time. I have gone into the registry and tried to delete the key in the Run folder. A few seconds later it reappears. There is also a key in the Run Once folder that reappears almost immediately. I have tried to close all non-system processes with no change. Any ideas? I would just reformat but my friend would rather not. I would like to get to the bottom of this anyway.

what trojan horses and viruses did you find? it's possible that they weren't completely removed (perhaps norton didn't find all the components?).

what happens when you end the explorer process, and then you enter it again? do the registry entries keep coming back?

Sounds like a really nasty virus problem. They should seriously consider a format, no matter how painful. (Of course, I think its fun) Also, if you didn't already check norton's website, they usually have decent indepth descriptions and instructions on removal that I have found useful in the past.
