Has anyone had any experience with the following viruses: I-Worm / Opas.E. They seem to work in conjuction with each other. Somehow I've managed to get infected twice with it and on two different computers (had to reinstall windows on the one machine).

Im using Grisoft's AVG anti virus control and ZoneAlarm firewall. This one has really been a pain in the ass for me!!

Make sure you`ve the latest AVG update,

Update 410 available. Added detection of I-Worm/Gigex, I-Worm/Bumper and I-Worm/Amani, new variants of I-Worm/Duksten, BackDoor.Delf and another slightly corrupted variant of I-Worm/Opas.

Also in AVG control centre you`ve all the boxes ticked in the E-mail tab and Outlook Express plug-in ticked.

Everything is checked on the AVG Anti Virus Program and its been updated. My machine seems to be reinfecting itselfs (3 times in 2 days). I havent downloaded anything or opened any emails. It seems to be when I start my machine thats what triggers the virus.

This is some of the startup items that show up in my menu:

run= c:\windows\alevir.exe,\windows\Brazil.pif,c:windows\scrsvr.exe,c:\windows\macro!.scr

I've have 3 instances of this "unchecked" in my startup menu!!

Please tell me that I dont have to reinstall Win98 to get rid of this.

Check Trend Antivirus or AVG or McAfee for detailed removal instructions. Won't require a reinstall. Looks like you need to get rid of that brazil.pif and scrsvr.exe -- those are the virus. There will be a registry edit to get them out, then fixing win.ini. These changes will likely need to be made in safe mode, then there's also a patch from microsoft that you'll need to add.

Also, make SURE your AVG has been updated ...they've been detecting and fixing this bug only since the 10/22/02 version (v406). Latest update (v410) came out 10/31 and has more even better detection included.
