One of my friends was having problem's with .txt files showing up on his desktop shortly after logging on to the internet, after scanning with Norton we found that he had 2 diff. Virus's, one was W32.Yaha.K@mm the other was Subseven. We let it take care of them automatically but now none of his programs will open either by using the icon or by clicking directly on the .exe file in explorer. Was able to get explorer to work by typing it in the run command. Internet Explorer will also run using the normal icons. I can also open Excel etc. by clicking on a program that is associated with it. But when I try to open Excel etc. by clicking the icon I get "Program Not Found" with the options to locate etc. Is there an easy way to fix this....thanks much

NAI classifies the w32.yaha.k as a medium risk worm. Accordingly, they have created specific removal instructions because one of its characteristics is that it can disable normal AV procedures. Check this out:

honestly it sounds as if the virus was able to do some damage. You may need to re-install a few programs...then if that doesnt work re-install windows or even better...backup and do a clean install with a format.

yep it looks like a full install will be needed. Tried installing some programs but it didn't work.
