Virus Protection with Eudora and/or Pegasus Email Clients?

As I understand, nearly 100% of all virus attacts are aimed at Outlook or Outlook Express. Will going to either Eudora or Pegasus help protect me? I'd rather not be running a virus checker...

Yes, because in Eudora Pro you can tell it not to use IE browser for the email peview window (uses a very limited HTML renderer instead without script support). Many of the holes in OE/O have been script-launched so that just the message showing in preview triggered an infection.

Of course you're not protected against stupidly clicking on an attachment in an email unless you use AV software.

So... I'd assume I can keep the preview pane off in O/OE and be as safe as Eudora... So it seems Eudora has no inherent advantages? Perhaps it's Pegasus that won't run a script from an attachment?

Well, with Eudora you can run a safe (non-IE) preview pane instead of doing without it, which is an advantage in my mind. If you never look at your preview pane then yes, they're equal.
