Virus help! Everytime I try to open up a program, comp freezes

I tried opening up Azureus today, and first it said that it didnt exist. then, my computer froze.
same thing happens when i try to open up any program. eesh.

any suggestions?

i have agnitum outpost firewall, but it tells me at startup that it failed to load...
so i have one installed, but i cant use it

im currently trying to stuff everything i can into my external hard drive, but this computer just locks up after i click through a few folders... ugh

Firewalls are firewalls, not antivirus programs. Not that an antivirus would necessarily have fixed this... *sigh*


I suggest trying System Restore, to "go back in time" to before this happened. You may need to start Windows in Safe Mode to do so. Also (duh) disable Azureus, since it seems to be pwned.

After that, get a 30-day trial version of Kaspersky AntiVirus 7 installed, update it, and run a full Scan My Computer with it. I recommend setting it to auto-nuke stuff without asking you: pic :camera:.

Make sure you go to its Settings > Threats and Exclusions panel and enable detection of riskware, by the way.

i didnt realize my spiffy dell had system restore, so ill try that for now, then ill get that antivirus program

i just restored it to a certain date, and its just sitting there frozen with no desktop, but my wallpapers up...

strange.
