Virus found in a protected program

My Norton AV keeps reporting a virus found in one of those protected folders of windows XP. It's some type of restore file. Norton can't get to it to fix it. If I look for it I have to go to properties to change the attribute but still can't get to it or delete it. Any suggestions ???

a) Delete your most recent restore point maybe.
b)Turn "system restore" off and try it?
c) Put the harddrive in another computer and scan it when the OS isn't the bootable partition?

What is the name of the restore file?
