Virus for Windows 10, that disables Keyboard/Mouse, and pushes Disk I/O to 100% on an SSD?

CPU usage graph keeps scrolling, but you can't input anything, and even hitting the ATX soft-off button (power button) does't do anything.

Disk I/O reported at 100%, but the HDD light on the front of the case is NOT on. However, I haven't double-checked that the wiring didn't get dis-lodged.

wow. Does it happen after you do a full shutdown and unplug the PC from the outlet also?

You may have to run some HW diagnostic utils, since that doesn't really sound like a virus to me but I could be wrong....

Doesn't sound like a virus to me either. Default soft-off option is sleep/hibernate which involves the OS taking action on. If the OS is not responsive, it's not going to go to sleep/hibernation. Sounds to me like a drive/controller issue.

This is my box with the "funky" AB350M Pro4 w/4.70 UEFI, and my second 2200G APU, and a relatively-fresh install of Windows 10. Perplexing.

It did it twice, btw.

I mostly run Linux (insert vegan/crossfit/linux user joke here). When I switch to Windows10 after a couple of weeks, I get 100% disk usage and an unresponsive system for the first 5-10 minutes while Windows looks for updates, scans the drive for malware, and loads superfetch. How long do you spend between Windows sessions?
