I am using Win-me and I am seeing something strange in the past couple of days when I type a url in wrong and I get sent to auto.search.msn

I have Norton 2000 Antivirus and when I get sent to http://auto.search.msn.com/response.asp it says:
"The file C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\CRKT4LE7\bs[1].gif is infected with the JS.Exception.Exploit virus."

I cleaned out my cache files but I still get the warning when I go there.

Anyone else get this with Norton??
Should I be concerned or do you think it something wrong with Notrton's antivirus?
:(

Spuds. I'm can't reproduce it here. Can you zip up that file (with a pw) and send it (and the pw) to me? I'll have the response group take a peak (I work for Symantec). Also, do you have the latest defs?

I just upgraded to 2002 version and I have the latest updates. It still happens. The problem is that I dont think Norton lets the file fully download. Cause the file is 0 bytes in length and when I copy it out of the folder I get no warning. I'm not going to turn off norton to download this file. Guess I'll just have to live with it. thanks for your replies.

OMG!!! I just found the problem. Since no one can replicate this I did some digging. Somehow a hosts file was put on my computer and the only entry is "66.28.33.54 auto.search.msn.com". I've always been diligent in updating my virus pattern files so I don't know how this hosts file was created. The date on it is May 3rd of this year. Well, I'm off to see who own this site...the basterds!
