Does any recommend any ones? How does it work? I'm wondering if you can minimize it and run several ones within. I just need to open an IE browser and program.

Try all the free ones: MS Virtual PC 2004, VMWare Player, and a few of the open source ones.

How does it work? Check out a book on virtual machines from your local library. Interesting stuff.

if you're running out of windows, i dont think it really matters. they all will eat up resources and generally be inefficient 8) move to vmware esx3 with a VT/pacifica cpu and overhead is only 3%!

if you can send me some money, i would. :)

i use VMware Server 1.02, running an AD server in there. I have 4GB RAM running XP x64 as the host so it's good enough.

btw, anyone know how to configure a Virtual Machine to use more than 2 cores in VMware server? at work we have a 2xdual core xeon setup but VMware can only use up to 2 cores for each virtual machine and no way to specify which core to use
