VirtualDub Frameserver

I'm having some problems with the frameserv option in VirtualDub, I'm using windows 2000 pro with vb 1.4.9, I'm trying to frameserv an edited avi file to TMPGEnc(2.53) but for some reason tmpgenc just freezes and won't load the file. I've installed the handler files and turned on the proxy reg file.. does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

i have this peice of software too, i was just wondering what the frame server was, like what do you use it for, and what does increseing the buffer sizes in the options menu do in terms of speed?

Sorry I don't have an answer to you problem, but for info on encoding check out www.doom9.net. If you can't find any answers on the site, check out the forums.

@danny

Frameserving allows you to edit video and send the results to a second program without saving the whole video to a file. Basicly the second program, say an encoder like TMPGEnc, opens a small dummy file, when TMPGEnc tries to access part of the video Vdub gets the original frame, performs whatever processes you told it to on the frame, and then gives the result to TMPGEnc. This on-the-fly processing saves a ton of temp disc space. The buffer holds previously processed frames so if you are going back and forward within a few frames Vdub does not have to re-process the frames, it just servers them from memory. I don't think increasing it would help with the speed of encoding.
