I am running XP 32 on a VM using Virtualbox to play 16bit games on my computer. What am I missing out on VT that i'm not getting now? Everything works just fine so far.
Not much, probably. Try downloading VMWare Server (the free hypervisor VMWare offers) and see if it offers anything. I like both programs myself, though I find VirtualBox a little limiting in terms of hi-res support. It is easier to install and set up, however. I wonder how long it will be before Oracle kills it.
What does VT offer that my Q8200 doesn't have? All I can think of is not supporting 64-bit virtual machines. Would the tiny lag between cursor movement and action be non-existent?
Not for Linux VMs, that's for sure. For winXP 32-bit, same thing. I don't think the Q8200 is a problem at all for what you're doing. Now, on the other hand, I do have a Nehalem at work running this stuff and it is just brutally fast. Unfortunate that it's giving me a most unwelcome upgrade bug.
