hadn't looked at ubuntu since hedgehog so thought I would take a peek again on a VM.
Guest Ubuntu installed ok. Was able to mount guest addons from vm iso also.
This is the first time i tried VBox.
Was wondeing if this is normal behavior?

VBox shows scd0 as being mounted but as far as ubuntu is concerned it is unaccessable.
If I were to put in an audio cd for instance while guest os is operating it merely launches windows media player (in host). And ubuntu refuses to mount it.

Is this a true statement in VB. scd0 belongs to host os and cannot belong to guest os?

Seems like it would not be so, don't remember having that problem with vmware when I used it before .

If you are using Vbox you have to mount the drive from the vbox panel first. You can either set it to use an image or to use the host drive.

I just built a ubuntu image in vbox on my laptop and had no problems.

LOL, nice timing fellas. I did a Kubuntu install in VirtualBox yesterday myself! Been toying around with VirtualBox for a week now and things are finally getting pretty easy to get a handle on after reading their documentation.
