Summary:
I'm looking for software that will allow me to create a virtual display, in Windows XP, with a resolution greater than the maximum resolution of the physical monitor.
Details:
The machine in question is a SCADA. The physical monitor is running at a resolution of 1024x768, but I need to display a resolution of 1280x1024. The machine is almost exclusively accessed remotely (via TeamViewer), so being unable to view the higher resolution display on the physical monitor is not an issue. The higher resolution display needs to be accessible to TeamViewer. The GPU is capable of displaying 1280x1024. The monitor is the limiting factor.
I'm aware of many virtual screen software packages, like VirtuaWin, but I have yet to find one that will allow me to run virtual screens at a resolution higher than the resolution allowed by the monitor. If someone could point me toward something that could solve this problem, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I know the simplest solution would be to plug a 1280x1024 monitor into the SCADA, but that is not an option. It's not my decision. I don't agree with the decision, but that's life when dealing with corporate bureaucracies.
