my old packard bell

man.....100mhz pentium 8mb ram, soundblaster, 4mb video 10gig Hdd was a beast and i thought it was gods right hand man wen we upgraded it to 40mb ram! lol

but the thing i want is this

it was running win 95, and packard bell had some kind of active desktop thingy, basically it was a house and u navigated round the house to do things and launch programs for instance u wanted to play music....then u clicked on the Hi-FI in the living room and up came a media player...u set it playing an u could go back to naviatin the house

u could go in the study to view things like the recycling bin, and control panel, and then another room with shelves that had all ur programs and games on

anyone have/remeber this? i thought it was cool

anywhere or anyone who make these kinds of things?

I dont know about you, but that reminds me of...

MICROSOFT BOB!

I dont know if that is the exact program but it was very very similar. You had an imaginary house and you could build your own room and what not and store stuff like shortcuts to program and what not....except these shortcuts would look like books, and cds and stuff like that.

Anyone else remember it? I thought it was the coolest thing at the time (then again I was probably 8 or 9). Anyways...yeah thats what I remember!

ahhh nah man its not M$ BOB....it was 3d and not cartoon like, it was more what youd expect to see in a cad design of a house, and when u put the mouse over say the roof it disappeared or had a section disapear revealing the different rooms under nieth..then ud click on the room u wanted

it was much more grown up than BOB

has that same 16 possibly 8bit look to it ya know...like the colour grades were visable and things looked bit grainy like a low quality jpeg
