I've been constructing a server setup for my house in my head recently and this idea arose today:
Does anyone know of any software for making a printer attached to a (Windows) computer behave like a IP printer? I did a bit of searching, but didn't find what I wanted. My first exposure to a machine having multiple IP addresses was with virtualization software, and I'm thinking that something along those lines could virtualize a network printer as well.
I can't really think of any good reason that this would be better than a shared/network printer setup, but I'm just wondering if I could do it.
