Virtual drive being recognized as a physical drive

I had been using Alcohol for quite a while for my image mounting needs. Well, I was doing some "maintenance" (apparently screwing things up ) and I broke my Alcohol. Not a big deal, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it.

Well, when I uninstalled it it still had a virtual drive activated, and when I reinstalled it it recognized that drive as a real physical drive. How do I get rid of it?

Delete the registry entry under HKLM/System/MountedDevices. Personally, I would kill for my virtual drives to be recognised as such.

Well the problem is I can't change it or anything. It has the old image (that doesn't even exist anymore) mounted to it. If it worked then I'd love it too

Hmm, actually that didn't work. I delete the entry(s) and when I reboot they're all back.

Edit: The file is no longer mounted, but the drive is still on the list of physical DVD drives.

Bump, the phantom drive is going to assimilate my very being. Please help me fight the good fight.

Uninstall it from the device manager.

Did that, twice. It just re-adds itself upon a reboot.
