If ever I run my desktop resolution at anything higher than 1280 x 1024, instead of displaying my screen at that resolution it simply extends my desktop beyond the borders of my screen. How the hell do I change this? My vid card is a GF2 MX and my screen a Synmaster 900 NF.
Thanks for any help.

Are you using the inf file for the syncmaster 900 NF? Or are you set to plug and play monitor?

................edit...................
Also are you using any video software like Powerstrip or NVmax?

I am using the inf file, and I am NOT using either powerstrip, nvmax, or any other third-party monitor software.

In my experience, virtual desktops have to be created and maintained by software. Did you load the software that came with your GF2? If you did, you might try disabling it and try updating your drivers to the latest from Nvidia.

Only other thing that I can think of is the Overlay controls in the advanced properties of your video card.

Now that I think about it the only time I have ran into this type of thing it was software that did at, just as WarCon said. It was on a ATI all in wonder card. It was not really and option that you could turn on and off. It just let you set your resolution higher than your monitor could handle. The way it did it was how you discribed. I would uninstall everything that came with your card, drivers, software and so on. Then reinstall just using the drivers from the internet.
